We see the same sorts of shops in Daytona Beach and Myrtle Beach. We stopped at a souvenir shop to get gifts for the kids and it reminded me that we were definitely at the beach. Our drive back to Wilmington was pretty quiet and uneventful. We weren’t looking to be around too many people while we were out and about, thus the change of plans for dinner. We had plans to go to a place called Provision Company but there was a line out the door. We grabbed dinner while in Southport, at this lovely place called Oliver’s on the Cape Fear. In fact, if we had had maybe another 30 seconds, we would have made it. It was just hard! We both really enjoyed it. and let me just say – it was great! It was a hard room but it wasn’t hard and frustrating. We love them! We picked a TSA-themed room at XIT Rooms on Wrightsville Ave. He generally plans travel and accomodations.) and of course an escape room would be on the list. My husband left me in charge of activities (which is the usual for us. Our first actual activity was visiting an escape room. I have to say that some of my favorite pizza crusts come from the wheat dough they use. The food was great and the service was good as well. Our first stop of the trip was dinner, which we found at a Mellow Mushroom in town. We stayed on the waterfront downtown, where we can easily walk to most places. The drive itself is a bit monotonous due to backroads and small towns but it’s not a bad drive. Our trip started out on a Friday, with a 3 1/2 hour drive from the Charlotte area.
This time, we had great weather and with timed entrances to the aquarium, we were able to do both! My husband and I had visited last summer but the weather, and crowds, kept us from doing the things I wanted to do the most – visit the Battleship North Carolina and go to the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher. While I don’t remember specifics, I do remember that we visited Wilmington a handful of times. I spent 7 years of my life in Jacksonville, which is about an hour north of Wilmington. However, a couple weekends ago, we managed to sneak away for a few days to the NC coast with a visit to Wilmington. Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s made travel virtually impossible this year. Whether it’s weekend trips or week long vacations on a cruise ship or abroad, travel is one of my top loves in life.
One thing people know about me is that I love to travel.
